Explanation:

1. Adipose tissue is primarily located beneath the skin, but is also found around internal organs. In the integumentary system, which includes the skin, it accumulates in the deepest level, the subcutaneous layer, providing insulation from heat and cold. Around organs, it provides protective padding.

2. Function. Areolar connective tissue holds organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue to other underlying tissues. It also serves as a reservoir of water and salts for surrounding tissues. Almost all cells obtain their nutrients from and release their wastes into areolar connective tissue.

Location. The areolar tissue is found beneath the dermis layer and is also underneath the epithelial tissue of all the body systems that have external openings.

a) Adipose tissue:

  • Location: Below the skin and between internal organs.
  • Function: storage of fats and insulation.

b) Areolar tissue:

  • Location: Between skin and muscles, around blood vessels and nerves, and in the bone marrow.
  • Function:  Fills the space inside organs, supports internal organs and helps in the repair of tissues.

c) Nervous tissue:

  • Location: Nervous tissue is found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
  • Function: It stimulates muscle contraction, creates an awareness of the environment, and plays a major role in emotions, memory, and reasoning.
