 \sqrt{5}  - 3

 \sqrt{5}  + 3

Is the lowest rationalising factor of  \sqrt{5} - 3 As,

( \sqrt{5}  - 3)( \sqrt{5}  + 3) \\  =  \sqrt{5}  ^{2}  -  {3}^{2}  \\  = 5 - 9 = -4

which is rational.
