1. The Hinalayas : The highest mountain ranges of the world, the Himalayan Region is the northern border of India. It is formed at the edge of the Indo - Gangetic plain.

2. The Indo - Gangetic Plain : The formation of the Indo-Gangetic plain is the result of the interaction of the three Himalayan rivers, Indus, Ganga, and Brahmaputra and their tributaries.

3. The Peninsular Plateau : The Peninsular Plateau is also known as the Indian Plateau. It is located in the southern region of India and is surrounded by the sea on three sides.

4. The Coastal Plains : Coastal plains refer to the coastline of India which cover 7516.6 km. The eastern coastal plains are located between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. and the western coastal plains are located between the Bay of Bengal and the Eastern Ghats.

5. The Desert : The Indian desert comprises the undulating sandy plains on the western fringes of the Aravali Hills which is covered with sand dunes. Rajasthan and northwestern parts of Gujarat collectively form the desert region of India.

6. The Islands : There are two major island groups in India. One is in the Arabian Sea and another is in the Bay of Bengal. The islands of the Arabian Sea include the Lakshadweep and the Minicoy. On the other hand, the Bay of Bengal island groups the Ritchie’s archipelago and the Labyrinth Island.
