Write the meaning of the following idioms and use each of them in sentences of your own.

1. to beat a retreat means to leave hastily in the face of opposition!
  example:when they saw the police coming,they beat a retreat.
2. to stick to one"s guns means to refuse to change ones convictions or beliefs!
  example:his father wanted him to be a lawyer , but he stick to his guns and followed a career as a writter.
3.to steal march on means to gain an advantage over someone by acting before they do !
4.to pass muster means be accepted or adequate or satisfactory!
5.up arms means being fighting!
