Gills are feathery organs full of blood vessels. A fish breathes by taking water into its mouth and forcing it out through the gill passages. As water passes over the thin walls of the gills, dissolved oxygen moves into the blood and travels to the fish's cells.

Gills

~ the mechanism of respiration is taken by gills in fish so that they breathe in water. Most fish possess gills on either side of their head, it takes Hydrolised Oxygen or oxygen-rich water through their mouths and pump it over their gills.

~ in the Gills the gas exchange happens because they are a very thin wall of tissue and are well supplied with blood.

~ And then finally abandon the oral cavity through the opercle, while the blood flows in the opposite direction across lamellas to catch the oxygen.
