When Ethanol (C2H5OH) reacts with concentrated excess H2SO4 at 443 k it produces Ethene (CH2=CH2) and H2O. In this reaction the water in Ethanol is removed and Ethene remains .
In this reaction,Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) acts as the dehydrating agent where it removes the water from Ethanol.
