1) They cut the stem, roots and leaves.
2)They bore into fruits and vegetables.

The insects affect the plant yield only through their mode of nutrition, they either cut or nibble the parts of the plant especially the leaves that help in photosynthesis, whereas other insects suck the entire plant sap and therefore prevent the bees from getting attracted to the plants.

This in turn blocks the pollination of plants and stops their spreading or reproduction. The destruction of leaves and flowers therefore limits the survival abilities of the plant.
