- Heating effect- When the electrons carry a current through a wire, resistance is generated. The work done to overcome this resistant force is converted to heat. This concept was proposed by Joule.
- Magnetic effect- A current-carrying wire produces a magnetic field around it. This magnetic effect of electric current was given by Oersted.
- Chemical effect- Ions also conduct electricity. This phenomenon is called 'electrolysis'.
