Arthur Atwater Frost proposed the Frost diagram in the year 1951.

This diagram was created by him as a way to "show both free energy and oxidation potential data conveniently".

Apart from being called as Frost diagram, it is also called as Frost-Ebsworth diagram.

This diagram or graph is used in electrochemistry by the inorganic chemists to illustrate the relative stability of a number of different oxidation states of a particular substance.

The oxidation state is put up against the free energy of chemical species, which is illustrated in the graph.

The free energy is determined by oxidation-reduction half-reaction.

Also, the effect depicted in the graph is affected by the pH which should be added.
