Tri atomic Oxygen is known as OZONE.

a) Its presence is very important in nature as this acts as a blanket and     shields the Earth from the harmful UV rays.

b)Ozone at lower atmospheric levels acts as a pollutant, but at high levels(in the ozone layer) it is a boon for every organism.

It protects humans from UV rays which can cause Cataract, skin cancer etc. UV rays cause a lot of harm to plants too. For example it causes the destruction of chlorophyll in the leaves which makes the plants unable to survive.

So Ozone layer is very important for our survival.
