The names of two prominent social reformers who fought for the eradication of untouchability are Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar. BR Ambedkar belonged to the untouchable caste( Mahars) in Maharashtra. However, later in life he took a stand as a spokesperson for the grave issue.
