The product of a rational and an irrational number is irrational because the rational “state” of the first number is changed.

A non-zero rational number multiplied by an irrational will not come out to be written as a fraction or ratio

In mathematics, an irrational number is a real number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers, that is, as a fraction. Therefore, irrational numbers are written as decimal numbers.

So, the product of a non-zero rational number and an irrational number will always be a decimal number.
