♤ ANSWER :- ♤

 {x}^{2}  - x - 6 = 0 \\  \\  {x}^{2}  - 3x + 2x - 6 = 0 \\  \\ x(x - 3) + 2(x - 3) = 0 \\  \\ (x - 3)(x + 2) = 0 \\  \\ x =3 \\  \\ x =  - 2

ANSWER

SINCE DISCRIMINENT = 1-4(1)(-6)= 25

which is positive

so equation has two real distinct roots

know other conditions

  • if discriminent is 0

then equation has two equal roots

because by quadratic formula

x= -b + √D /2a

where a and b are coefficient of x^2 and x

  • if D = 0 then clearly equation has two equal roots

  • if discriminent is negative then equation has two imaginary roots
  • if discriminent is a perfect square then roots are ratinal in nature
  • know set of complex nber > set of real >set of ratinal numbers

hope it helps
