Concept-

Arithmetic sequence can be defined as  a sequence of the terms within which difference between one term and therefore the next term could be the constant.

Given-

The A.P. , whose first term is given as a and customary  difference is given as d

Find-

We need to seek out the nth term of an A.P.

Solution-

First term = a = x

common difference = d = y

Use formula for nth term,

aₙ = a + (n-1) d and substitute a = x and d = y

aₙ = x + (n-1) y

aₙ = x - y + n × y

Hence, nth term of an A.P. is x + (n-1)y or x - y +ny , if first term of an A.P. is x, and common difference is y.
