Hi ,

Difinition:
A number which can be written in the form of p / q ,

where p , q are integers and q is not equals to zero

is called a Rational number.

All rational numbers can be converted into decimal

numbers. There are 2 types of decimals

1) Terminating decimals

2) Non - terminating repeating decimals.

Now given number is 2.4 is terminating decimal.

2.4 = 2.4/1 × 10 /10 = 24 /10 = (2 × 12 ) / ( 2 × 5 ) = 12 / 5

Therefore ,

2.4 = 12 / 5 it is in p / q form.

and 12 , 5 are integers.

2.4 = 12/ 5 is a rational number.

I hope this will useful to you.
