To find the atomic mass of an element we have to multiply the number of atoms times that element's atomic  mass and add all of the masses of all the elements in the molecule

  • number of atoms in k2co3 = (2 × atomic weight of potassium)+atomic weight of carbon +(3 × atomic weight of oxygen)
  • k2co3= (39×2)+12+(16×3)=78+12+48=138 u

therefore the number of atoms of each element in the molecule k2co3= 138
