Then,

x×y=(-45) and x-y =12

x×y=(-45)

x=(-45/y)

x-y =12

x=12+y

Then,

-45/y=12+y

or -45/y-y=12

or -45-y²=12y

or 45+y²=-12y

or y²-12y+45=0.

or y²+(-15+3)y+45

or y²-15y+3y+45=0

or y(y-15)+3(y-15)=0

or (y+15)(y-3)=0

y=-15 and 3

so the answer is -15 and 3
