To test the rusting of iron, it requires both air and water.
So to test them take three test tubes and name as A, B, C. Now taken a three iron nail and place in each of the test tubes. After that take on test tube filled with some water and close them with the help of cork. In the second test tube B it should not contain dissolved air, So pour some oil with boiled water, which prevents entry of air in water.
In third test tube C have to put some anhydrous calcium chloride and close it with the help of cork. In a test tube, it is absorbed with air and moisture with drying agent Anhydrous calcium chloride. Now undisturbed these test tube for some days.
- After completing some days. In test tube A the nail will get rusted due to exposure of both water and air.
- In test tube B the nail does not rust because there is no water only air was present in the test tube.
- In C test tube the nail will not get rusted due to air is dry and water is absent.
