Answer:

For performing osmosis, we need a partially permeable membrane. Partially permeable membrane let's only small molecules pass through and not the larger molecules. The water molecules are very small compared to other compounds so when osmosis is taking place, the water passes from its higher concentration to its lower concentration that is it moves down it concentration gradient.

Procedure you follow to perform osmosis:

Osmosis is the exchange of air molecules between the cells of an organisms .

During osmosis,

  • The cell may swell.
  • The cell may remain same size.
  • The cell may shrink.

Explanation:

  • Take a flask pour hydrochloric acid then place a raw egg in it leave it for time the shell of the egg gets disappeared.
  • Take the egg out carefully and remove the inner solution present in egg.
  • Tie a thread to the top of layer, so that no air can enter into layer.
  • Now place in water leave it for some time after a while you observe water in layer.
