Aim :- To prove the Reaction b/w Iron and copper sulphate solution.

Apparatus :- Two iron nails, sand paper, two test tubes.

Chemicals:- Copper sulphate solution.

Procedure:-

Take two iron nails clean and rub with a sand paper.

Take two test tubes mark them as A and B.

Take 10ml of copper sulphate solution in each tedt tube dip one iron nail in copper sulphate solution of test tube A and keep it undisturbed for a while.

Keep the iron nail aside.

Now take out the nail from copper sulphate solution and compare with the other iron nail that has been kept aside.

Compare the colours of the solution in the test tubes.

Observation:-

Iron nail dipped in the copper sulphate solution becoming brown. The blue colour of the copper sulphate in test tube A fades.

Chemical change:-

Fe + CuSO4 =》FeSO4 + Cu.

Conclusion:-

Iron is more reactive than copper so it displaces copper from copper sulphate. This is a displacement reaction
