Digestion in human beings
Firstly, food is taken in mouth ,it is also called as ingestion. Food is crushed with our teeth. To make its passage smoot food is wetted by saliva secreted by salivary gland. It contains an enzyme called salivary amylase. That breakdown starch which is a complex molecule into simpler sugar molecule. From mouth food enter to stomach by Oesophagus. Mascular walls of stomach expand when food enters it. Gastric glands are present in stomach to release Hydrochloric acid which helps in killing of bacteria present in our foods by cleaning them. The stomach muscles helps in mixing the food and the digestive juices. From stomach food enters to small Intestine, it is longest part of our elementary canal. In small intestine hair- like projections are present, they helps in increasing the surface area for food absorption and adding digestive secretions. Complete digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fat occurs in small Intestine. During digestion, your pancreas makes pancreatic juices called enzymes. These enzymes break down sugars, fats, and starches. Your pancreas also helps your digestive system by making hormones. Pancreatic hormones help regulate your blood sugar levels and appetite, stimulate stomach acids, and tell your stomach when to empty. Liver breakdown the fats that are eaten, converting excess carbohydrates and protein into forms that are stored for later use, while synthesizing other fat, like cholesterol. The liver produces bile to help break down and absorb fats. Waste products and toxins are removed through bile. After that food is sent to the large intestine. The job of your large intestine is to absorb water, minerals, and some of the remaining nutrients from your food. After that undigested food material is removed from the body via anus.
