Write the processing of image making
Answers
Image-Making Within The Writing Process is a dynamic evidence-based approach to teaching writing that uses visual and kinesthetic modes of thinking at each and every stage of the writing process. Students begin by creating their own portfolios on colorful, hand-painted textured papers.
These papers not only spark story ideas but also become the raw materials for constructing stunning collage images. As students literally give shape to their ideas through cutting and pasting, they are able to rehearse, draft, and revise their stories long before setting pencil to paper.
Engaged in Artists/Writers Workshop and supported by quality mentor texts, students build a sequence of collage images to tell their story. They are invited to orally rehearse their storyline through "reading their pictures." Rich descriptive language is literally at their fingertips. Brainstorming sheets, specially designed for each page of writing, help students to access and record "silver dollar words." This hands-on, multimodal process has been proven particularly effective for those who struggle with more traditional, straight verbal approaches to writing.
Implemented in grades K-12, Image-Making can be used to teach a variety of genres. It can be easily aligned with English Language Arts Core Standards and integrated into the science and social studies curriculum.
