Answer: 1, 3-diaminobenzene or, m-phenylenediamine

Explanation: given organic compound of nitro group can be reduced into amino with help of :

(1) hydrogen in the presence of catalyst like nickel or platinum

(2) a metal like tin(Sn) or iron(Fe) in the presence of hydrochloride acid.

here we have to reduce 1,3-dinitorbenzene with help of tin in the presence of hydrochloride acid into 1,3-diaminobenzene as shown below attachement.

hence, answer should be 1,3- diaminobenzene or m-phenylenediamine

Explanation:

  • 1,3 dinitrobenzene is treated with tin and hydrochloric acid to form m- phenyl diamine.
  • 1,3  dinitrobenzene have to nitro groups at para and meta position of benzene ring when treated with tin and followed by hydrochloric acid nitro group is reduced to amino group and then form m- pheny diamine.
  • Hence, by the treatment of tin and hydrochloric acid with the  1,3 dinitrobenzene to form m- phenyl diamine.

The respective chemical reaction is attached on the below attachment:
