Sodium chloride and water are formed when sodium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid.

• When an acid reacts with a base, the neutralization reaction occurs between them in order to produce a salt and water as the products of the reaction.

• Similarly, the sodium hydroxide or the NaOH is a basic substance and the hydrochloric acid or HCl is also an acidic substance.

• And,in the neutralization reaction between the NaOH and HCl,the NaCl and H2O are produced.

• Chemical equation :

NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O
