Composition: The constituent assembly consisted of 381 members and was headed by Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Jawaharlal Nehru was an important figure. It also consisted of other prominent leaders like B.R. Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Pattabhi Sita Rammya, etc. It had members from various political parties, particularly Congress and Muslim League. The core of this committee was the drafting commission headed by Dr. Ambedkar.

Contribution: The constituent assembly drafted the Indian constitution that is followed till date. It is an achievement to the team that they drafted in this a mere period of 3 years, what took other nations several years. The noteworthy point is that this constitution is relevant even now and has not ever been abrogated.
