Attractive Property – Magnet attracts ferromagnetic materials like iron, cobalt, and nickel.

Repulsive Properties – Like magnetic poles repel each other and unlike magnetic poles attract each other.

Directive Property – A freely suspended magnet always points in a north-south direction.

Some of the properties of magnets are :-

1. Property of attraction :-

Poles of magnet have ability to attract small particles or small pieces of magnetic materials like iron , steel , nickel etc.

2. Property of alignment :-

A freely suspended magnet always comes to rest such that it's north pole directly faces geographical north and it's south pole directly faces geographical south pole.

3. Pair property :-

Even if we break a magnet , it don't get isolated as north magnet and south magnet. The magnet will break into new magnets with both the poles i.e. north and south.

4. Basic law of magnets :-

Like poles repel and unlike poles attract each other.

5. Property of induction :-

If the magnets are kept near the magnetic materials like iron , cobalt or anything , the material aquires property of magnet without any direct contact.
