You would expect since it is an acid base reaction to get H2CO3, carbonic acid, but the formation of a gas is far more thermodynamically favorable, plus you see bubbles, so that indicates CO2 has formed. ...Sodium carbonate reactswith sulphuric acid to givesodium sulphate, water & carbon dioxide.
