The reaction of concentrated sulphuric acid with analic acid gives Carbon mono and di oxides as well as water.

  • The chemical formula of Analic or Oxalic acid is (COOH)_{2}. So, when conc. H_{2} SO_{4} is added, the water is removed from the oxalic acid.
  • H_{2} SO_{4} + (COOH)_{2}  --------> CO_{(g)} + CO_{2}{(g)} + H_{2}O_{(l)}
