Both the aerobic and anaerobic respiration can be undergone by the Yeast. The respiration which happens in the absence of Oxygen is known as anaerobic respiration also known as fermentation. Glucose breaks down into ethanol, CO2, H2O, and energy. 2 ATP energy is released.
glucose → ethanol + carbon dioxide
C6H12O6 → 2C2H5OH + 2C02
