Total internal reflection is the phenomenon which occurs when a propagated wave strikes a medium boundary at an angle larger than a particular critical angle with respect to the normal to the surface.

This ans may help u......if so plz mark brainliest

Thanx 4 the qustn.

Total Internal Reflection and the Critical Angle.

  1. If a ray of light is leaving a denser medium, it will bend away from the normal.
  2. As the angle of incidence inside the material increases the angle of refraction increases to a point at which it leaves the material at 90˚.
  3. When the angle of refraction is equal to 90°, the angle of incidence is called the critical angle,
  4. At any angle of incidence greater than the critical angle, the light cannot pass through the surface - it is all reflected. Total because all of the energy is reflected.
