Write the relation for current sensitivity and voltage sensitivity
Answers
Galvanometer
Current Sensitivity:
The deflection of a galvanometer per unit current is called current sensitivity of galvanometer.
i.e., SI=θI……(i)
In a moving coil galvanometer,
kθ=BINA
or,θI=BNAk
From equation (i) and (ii),
SI=BNAk
So, current sensitivity of a galvanometer can be increased by increasing the value of B, N and A. It can be decreased by decreasing the value of k.
Voltage Sensitivity:
The deflection of galvanometer per unit voltage is called voltage sensitivity of a galvanometer.
i.e., Sv=θV……(i)
In a moving coil galvanometer,
kθ=BINA
or,Kθ=BVRNA
or,θV=BNARk
So, voltage sensitivity of a galvanometer can be increased by increasing the value of B, N and A. It can be decreased by decreasing the value of R
Hence increasing the current sensitivity may not necessarily increase the voltage sensitivity of a galvanometer.
