Cilia are hair like projections, found in the wall of the mucus present in the nasal cavity. The prevents the external unwanted substance from entering inside the body, through the nasal cavity. With related to this the reason of hiccup also can be stated with this as while the outer unwanted substance try to enter then the cilia reacts at once and move out the unwanted substance with high air pressure with the blowing air and some amount of mucus also gets exerted with this, which can be defined as the hiccup.
