Birth control pills are the most commonly prescribed hormonal for hirsutism ,as they prevent ovulation and decrease androgen production by the ovaries . Additionally ,estrogen in the pills stimulates the lever to produce more of a protein that binds to Androgens and reduces activity.

Contraception is a method of avoiding unwanted pregnancies.

For contraception various methods are employed like implant method, intrauterine devices, oral pills .These all contains progesterone hormone or estrogen as well as progesterone hormones this is because estrogen proliferates endometrium of uterus for implantation and progestrone maintains that endometrium to maintain pregnancy and it also stops ovulation thus when these are present in high amounts in female's body they don't allow follicles to rupture and ovulation to take place . These contraceptives are usually employed before or immediately after coitus so that these hormones start working , arrest ovulation and eventually pregnancy will be avoided.
