electrons in an energy shells could be filled by the formula 2n^2 where n is the shell no
suppose we have to find the no of electrons in 2nd shell so n will be 2 *4=8

According to Bohr Bury Rule;

Every shell like K, L, M.... Etc have electrons whose number is equal to 2n^2 where n is shell number.. Or also called as Principal Quantum number.

For K : 2* 1^2 = 2*1 = 2e-

L : 2* 2^2 = 2* 4 = 8e-

M : 2* 3^2 = 2*9 = 18e-........

Energy of shell is increases with increasing order.. Means K have less energy than L.. And same like it follows :

K<L<M<N..

Next shell is start to fill after previous ones are completely filled.

Electrons in last shell is not more than 8..

For ex..

Ca have 20e-..

So it's electronic configuration need to be 2,8,10.

But according to fourth rule, third shell is last shell.. So it's contains only 8e-..

So it's electronic configuration is 2,8,8,2.

Hope it's helpful to u.
