1) All distances should be measured from the pole.

2) All distances measured in the direction of incident ray are to be taken as positive.

3) The distances measured in the direction opposite to incident ray are to be taken as

negative.

4) Height of object (h) and height of image (h;) are positive, if measured upwards

from the air and negative if measured downwards.

Pole: The centre of the spherical mirror is called pole of the mirror.

Object height: The distance between object and mirror is called object height.

Image height: The distance between image and mirror is called image height.
