Answer:

You can save your query to preserve any changes.

What you save in the Query Tool is the query definition, which is a specific set of instructions for extracting particular data. You are not saving a snapshot of the data that is retrieved when the query is run. For example, if you run a query that you saved a week ago, the data that is queried reflects any changes in the updated data source. A snapshot of the data that is retrieved by the query can be captured by viewing the query in other formats such as PDF, Excel or XML.

Steps

Click the Save button Save on the toolbar.

If you are saving the query for the first time, specify where you want to save the query and type a file name. Please note that the following special characters are not supported when saving queries and outputs: /, [, ], ‘, <, >.

Example save query dialog

If you want to include a description and a screen tip, type the information you want to add in the Description box and the Screen tip box. The information you enter in the screen tip will be appended to the Object Type and Object Name information that is already displayed in the tool tip. The tool tip and description will be visible for the query on the FAMWEB Data Warehouse Queries and Reports page in the folder where the query is saved.

Click OK.

Save the Query Using a Different Name or Location

You can save a query using a different name or location. This is a good way to use an existing query as the basis for a new query.

Steps

Click the Save As button Save As on the toolbar.

Specify a name and location. Please note that the following special characters are not supported when naming folders and saving queries, saved outputs, analyses, or schedules: /, [, ], ‘ <, >.

To include a description and screen tip, type the information you want to add in the Description box and Screen tip box.

Click OK.
