Subset:

lf every member of a set a is a member of a set b then a is called subset of B and B is called superset of A.

Or if ,

→ x€A

→ x€B

then A is a subset of B and B is a superset of A.

we can write these as :

A⊂B

if a is not a subset of B then we write it as a is not a subset of B.

Note:

A⊂B is also written as A⊆B.

Example:

Let ,

A={ a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h}

B={c,d,h}

C={ a,b,i,d}

→now every element of B is an element of A.

Therefore, B⊂A

→ but every element of C is not an element of A.

c is not a subset of A

Again note:

null set or empty set is always a subset of every set.
