➸Microorganisms are living organisms that are very small to be seen by naked eyes.

➸They are microscopic animals hence, called microorganisms.

➸They may exist in its single-phase celled form or in a colony of cells.

➸They include all unicellular organisms.

➸They also include eukaryotic multicellular organisms and unicellular protists and protozoans.

➸They are found in every habitat from poles to equator, deserts, geysers, rocks, deep sea etc.

➸Microbes are important to human culture and health.

➸They help in the fermentation of food, treatment of sewage, fuel production, production of enzymes and bioactive compounds.

➸Eg- Cyanobacteria, Lactobacillus, Amoeba, Paramecium etc.

microorganisms are decomposers:

The food chain starts with energy from the sun, which is captured by plants and converted into fuel through photosynthesis.

Primary consumers eat plants, and secondary and tertiary consumers feed on primary consumers. At the end of the chain, a group of micro-organisms called as decomposers carry out natural process of decomposition and form the final link in the food chain. They break down dead animals and plants and return vital nutrients to the soil

pathogenecity of microorganisms:

➟Pathogenicity is the term which is used to describe the capability of organisms to cause the disease.

➟The disease may be developed in animals, plants and humans.

➟Infectious diseases may be developed due to the interaction of the pathogenic molecule which is termed as antigen with the cells of the animal.

➟The microbes which can cause disease or infection are called as pathogenic microbes.

microorganisms are useful in:

➪Microorganisms are used in brewing, wine-making, baking, pickling and other food-making processes.

➪They are also used to control the fermentation process in the production of cultured dairy products such as yogurt and cheese.

➪The cultures also provide flavour and aroma, and inhibit undesirable organisms.

➪Microbes are used in the biological treatment of sewage and industrial waste effluents.

➪Microbes are used in fermentation to produce ethanol.

hope it helps you
