The SI unit of acceleration is m/s^2.
And it's CGS unit must be cm/s^2 AKA "Gal".
Details:
Acceleration is defined as rate of change of velocity, in SI unit system we have velocity as m /s and by applying the defination,
Acceleration becomes m/s/s
= m/s^2
Now,
In CGS (centimetre- gram-second) system the definition is still the same but what changes is the unit of distance/length which is as you might've guessed Centimeters (cm)
so we have velocity in CGS as cm/s
so the acceleration becomes cm/s/s
= cm/s^2
Which has been given another name after the father of science Galelio Galelie that is "Gal".
Hope I didn't bored you much.
