The living part of the cell or part of the protoplasm which occupies the space between the cell membrane and the nuclear membrane is known as cytoplasm .

It contains about 90% water, 7% proteins,2%carbohydrates and lipids and 1% inorganic materials , minerals,vitamins etc.

Cytoplasm contains many cell organelles , each has its specific function .
