Stomata of monocot and dicot plants:

  • Stomata are the apertures present in the surface of the leaves. Through these apertures the gaseous exchange takes place.
  • Stomata of the dicotyledonous plants has the guard cells that are bean shaped in the structure. They are two in number in one stomata.
  • In case of monocotyledonous plants, they has the Bone shaped guard cells.
  • But, there are many similarities between them. They are two in number in each stomata.
  • They respond to the same kind of stimulus when they opens or closes in day and night respectively. Other cellular characteristics are also same.
