Patol Babu, the main character of the story, "Patol Babu, film Star" by "Satyajit Ray " is an old and bald man of age of fiftyish.


Patol Babu was living a difficult life. Whenever he takes up some job,he loses it, sometimes because of circumstances and others because he didn't like the job.


The story presents Patol Babu as a meticulous man. Patol Babu was in the need of money, but doesn't run after it. For him, the satisfaction of the actor is foremost.


Patol Babu is an iron willed man who is never afraid of the life's difficulty and does everything to earn a living.


Patol Babu had a great passion for acting in him. He presented even the small monosyllabic diologue "Oh" in such a way, that the crowd gathered around were all praising him.


Patol Babu had also been a great theatre actor. The hand bills used to carry his photo and names of his programme. People from far places only came to see him.


Patol Babu was a simple and calm man. He didn't know the process of film making that's why the role in film turns out to be a challenge for him. But, by his own determination and inspiration from the words of his master, Patol Babu played his role to utmost perfection.


For him the satisfaction of a true actor is most important, not the small amount of money. That's why he moved without even receiving his money for his role.
