according to Dobereiner's triads rule , elements are grouped in groups of 3 called traids where the atomic weight of the middle element is the average of the other two elements .

eg - Li , Na , K

li = 7
Na = 23
K = 39

39 + 7 / 2
= 46/2
=23

all of them react with water to form alkalies and all of them have a valency 1.
eg. 1.LITHIUM (Li) atomic mass 7
2.SODIUM (Na) atomic mass 23
3.POTASSIUM (K)atomic mass 39
atomic mass of sodium=7+39/2 =23
another eg. is of calcium,strontium,barium and chlorine,bromine,iodine
