Answer ⤵️⤵️

A) So, twice of the number = 2x

On adding 9 to it, we get 2x + 9

∴ 2x + 9 = 13

⇒ 2x = 13 – 9 = 4

⇒ x = 4/2 = 2

Thus, x = 2 is the required number.

B) Let the number be x.

According to the given condition,

1/3x - 1 = 1

or 1/3x = 1 + 1

or 1/3x = 2

or x = 6.
