There are six steps involved in processing of fibre into wool obtained form the sheep:
Shearing is the process of removing hair from the body of a sheep.
Scouring is the process of washing the fleece of sheep to remove dust, dirt, sweat and grease etc.
Sorting is the process of separating the long fine quality fleece from the remaining inferior quality or broken piece.
Combing and Grading is the process of removing the burrs from the fleece.
Dyeing The natural fleece of sheep is black, brown or white in color. So, the fibres obtained after combing are dyed in various colors.
Spinning The straightened fibres are spun or twisted together to make yarn. The wool yarn is then used to knit woollen fabrics and sweaters.
