Answer

  • The animals that eat the grass or some plants are known as herbivores. Herbivores have a different method of Digestion in their body. The method of digestion in these animals is called as rumination.
  • Some of the animals that eat grass are cows, deers, giraffes. They are called as ruminants. They have the same type of digestion in thier rumen. The rumen is the main organ in digestion of food in these animals.

\bigstar Steps of rumination :-

  • Firstly the animals consume the grass or some plants and chew them partially by their buccal cavity. Then, they swallow the food which passes to the rumen through oesophagus.
  • Later, after 2 to 3 hours the partially chewed food returns back from the rumen to the mounth through oesophagus, then these animals chew them further and again swallow them.
  • Then, the food digests further in the organ called as rumen and the undigested food enters the large intestine.
  • Finally, the waste materials from the food converts into faeces and it's excreted out of the body.
