Steps of construction:

Step 1 Let L be the given line and P be the given point outside the line. Take any point Q on line L and join P and Q.

Step 2 With Q as center, draw an arc with any radius intersecting line L at A and PQ at B.

Step 3 With P as center and the same radius as in Step 2, draw an arc interesting PQ at C.

Step 4 With C as center and radius equal to AB, draw an arc interesting the arc in Step 3 at D.

Step 5 Join P and D and extend it to m.

  • Then line m is parallel to line L passing through the given point P.
