Ethanol -> CH₃CH₂OH

When Ethanol is heated with excess of conc. H₂SO₄, at 443 K , Ethene is formed .

                      conc. H₂SO₄

CH₃CH₂OH ----------------------> CH₂ = CH₂ + H₂O

H₂SO₄ acts as a dehydrating agent , that removes water molecule from Ethanol -> CH₃CH₂OH
