Sudha was the odd one out in her class. Her classmates enjoyed teasing her because she wore hearing aids. She had no friends and kept to herself. She tried to control her sorrow by indulging in drawing, which was her favorite hobby.


One day, the class teacher told her class leader Usha to do a drawing on a particular theme for an inter-school drawing competition. Usha worked on it for days and was very happy with the result. On the day mentioned, she brought the drawing to the classroom and took it out to show everyone except Sudha. To her horror, she found that her water bottle was leaking and the whole thing had become a mess. Usha panicked as there was just an hour left for submission. Sudha silently came over and asked her if she had spare chart paper and color pencils. Luckily, Usha had brought these with her. She handed them over to Sudha who took them and went to her place.


In just ten minutes, she came back to Usha and gave her the chart paper with a very beautifully drawn and colored picture on the theme. Usha also noticed that Sudha had written Usha’s name below the drawing. She could not control her tears and gave Sudha a tight hug. From that day they became best friends. When the results were announced, Usha had won the first prize. She promptly handed it over to Sudha as she deserved it more.
