The meals were completely ready to be served. Guests were already sitting in the dining hall. "Maggie", shouted her mother, Mrs. Tulliver, "Go get your hair done". She went upstairs, her brother's hands clutched into hers, "I want you to help me". She went inside the room, got a pair of scissors and got her hairs falling on the ground. She went on cutting them slowly and smoothly. "You'll catch it", said Tom, hesistating. "Shut up, and come help me with this", she said, offering the scissors to Tom. Hesitating, he took them and began to enjoy the forbidden pleasure of cutting of horse's mane.
Seeing the result, Maggie felt an unexpected pain. She had lost her hair. "Dinner time", shouted the maid, entering the room. She got shocked to see what Maggie had done. "Mrs. Tulliver won't like it", she said. Tom said, "come, it's dinner time",but she didn't want to face the tragedy of listening the harsh words of her aunts seeing her hair, and thus said, "you go, I won't come", and started crying, because she also had to enjoy the tasty pudding with her cousins,of course. "I would recommend that you come downstairs, the meal is tasty" After thinking a while, she entered the dining hall, which later was full of echo when Mrs. Tulliver yelled, "My god, what did you do to your hair, you're a bad daughter", and started crying. People present there started joking and scolding her, but she proved to be tough. After a while, she broke down and ran to her father who supported her and said, "Come on dear, don't cry, after all, you had the right to clear the thing from your way which troubled you.", and thus proved to be a supportive father for Maggie, but a destructive father for others.
